1905 Bronze G.A.R. Medal - 39th National Encampment, Pikes Peak Denver, Co.

This bronze medal was made to commemorate the 39th National Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic being held in Denver, Colorado, September 1905.

The medal was made by the owner of the Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway for the 1905 veteran’s event. 
  • The obverse of the medal shows the Cog railway going to the top of the summit amid the piles of rock below.
  • The reverse reads, “39th National Encampment G.A.R., Denver Sept. 1905; In Honor of the Brave Men Who Victoriously Defended the Union On Land and Sea During the War of the Great Rebellion 1861-1865.
