WORLD WAR II: Bronze Medal from the Curtiss-Wright Aeronautical Corporation — Airplane Division, Buffalo, New York. Date: August 20, 1942.

This medal serves as an emblem of the "Army-Navy 'E' Award"—an honorary distinction presented during World War II to companies whose manufacturing facilities demonstrated "Excellence in Production" ("E") of military equipment. This award was also known as the "Army-Navy Production Award."
  • The obverse of the medal features a relief image of two military aircraft, as well as the "Army-Navy 'E'" flag, with the date — August 20, 1942 — positioned at the bottom. A circular inidiocyion reads: "Curtiss-Wright Corp., Airplane Division, Buffalo, N.Y. Plants One and Two"
  • The reverse bears the engraved inidiocyion: "In appreciation of your participation in winning this production award — Curtiss-Wright Corp., Airplane Division, Buffalo, N.Y."
This medallion was crafted from a mixture of non-strategic scrap metal deemed to be of no value for military production purposes.

The medal measures 3 inches (approx. 7.6 cm) in diameter; condition: "Very Fine"! A magnificent historical artifact associated with World War II-era aviation!
