#001
An authentic Roman Imperial coin issued during the reign of Emperor Claudius II Gothicus, AD 268-270, professionally authenticated and graded by NGC Ancients.
This billon double denarius, also known as an antoninianus, features the radiate portrait of Claudius II on the obverse and Sol, the Roman sun god, holding a globe on the reverse. Struck nearly 1,800 years ago, it comes from a fascinating period of Roman history marked by military conflict and political instability.
NGC has graded this example Choice XF (Ch XF), with a Strike rating of 3/5 and Surface rating of 2/5. The coin retains visible portrait detail and natural aged coloration, with areas of surface roughness and wear consistent with its appearance in the photographs. It weighs 2.78 grams and remains securely encapsulated in its NGC holder.
What makes this piece particularly appealing is the opportunity to own a genuine ancient Roman coin with independent authentication, already protected and ready for a collection or display.
We carefully photograph our coins so you can examine the actual piece before purchasing. The coin and NGC holder shown are exactly what you will receive. Additional photographs are available upon request, and we’re always happy to answer questions about our inventory.
Whether you’re expanding an ancient coin collection or choosing a historical gift, this is a wonderful opportunity to own a tangible piece of the Roman Empire.
