1811 France Napoleon Bronze "King of Rome's Baptism" Medal Paris Mint
Historical French bronze medal commemorating the baptism of Napoleon II (François Bonaparte), titled the King of Rome, on June 9, 1811, at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Issued by the Paris Mint under the First French Empire.
- Obverse: Dramatic high-relief scene of Napoleon I, laureate and in imperial regalia with flowing mantle and sword, standing left and proudly holding his infant son aloft above an ornate baptismal font.
- Reverse: Circular border of crenellated towers representing the "good cities" of the Empire, each labeled with city names (e.g., PARIS, LYON, BORDEAUX, MARSEILLE, etc., as visible in photos).
Struck in heavy bronze with deep chocolate patina, classic Paris Mint production.
Diameter approx. 68mm (standard size for this issue, Julius-2462 reference).
Highly sought after by collectors of Napoleonic medals, French Empire numismatics, or European history.
Condition as shown: Attractive aged bronze toning with some verdigris spots and natural patina variations; strong high-relief details, no major damage beyond age-appropriate wear. See all detailed photos for exact inidiocyions, cities, and condition.
A fantastic addition to any Napoleonic or French historical collection!
