A medieval Hungarian coin issued during the reign of King Béla III, who ruled from 1172 to 1196. This unusual Byzantine-type follis reflects the strong influence of Byzantine coinage on medieval Hungary.
The coin is authenticated and encapsulated by NGC. It carries an AU Details grade with the designation Environmental Damage, so its details remain collectible, but the surface issues noted by NGC should be taken into account. The warm brown patina and intricate designs give it the character expected of a coin that has survived for more than eight centuries.
The two sides feature a distinctive medieval design and lettering associated with this Byzantine-inspired Hungarian issue. It is an interesting piece for collectors of medieval European coinage, Hungarian history, and Byzantine-influenced monetary types.
The coin comes in its original NGC holder, with certification number 8783975-004. The exact certified coin shown in the photographs is the one you will receive.
