Vintage 1956 Society of Medalists 53rd Issue bronze medal by renowned sculptor John Angel (British-American, 1881–1960). Titled "The Fall and Redemption," this classic 3-inch (76mm) round medal features dramatic high-relief nude figures in a biblical theme.
Obverse: Adam fleeing while Eve kneels offering the forbidden fruit, entwined with the serpent under the Tree of Knowledge. Inscribed around the edge: "THE WOMAN TEMPTED ME AND I DID EAT" — a powerful depiction of the Fall of Man.
Reverse: The Annunciation — the Angel Gabriel blessing the kneeling Virgin Mary, with flowing robes and wings. Inscribed around: "BLESSED ART THOU AMONG WOMEN", signed JOHN © ANGEL '56.
