This is a vintage U.S. Mint presidential bronze medal honoring Abraham Lincoln, issued by the Bureau of the Mint (U.S. Treasury Department) as part of their ongoing series of presidential medals sold to the public.
Obverse: High-relief profile bust of Abraham Lincoln facing right. Inscribed around the border in raised letters: ABRAHAM LINCOLN (left side) and LINCOLN (right side).
Reverse: Laurel and oak wreath encircling crossed fasces or ribbons at the top, with central inscribed text:
INAUGURATED PRESIDENT
OF THE
UNITED STATES
MARCH 4. 1861.
SECOND TERM
MARCH 4. 1865.
ASSASSINATED
APRIL 14. 1865.
The medal is housed in its original blue presentation box from the Bureau of the Mint.
Inside is foam padding for protection, and a small paper insert/card with a blue-toned reproduction of the medal and biographical text about Lincoln.
This is a classic historical commemorative medal (3-inch size, common for boxed Mint issues), produced in bronze with a golden-bronze finish, dating to the mid-20th century or later reissues of the classic design by George T. Morgan. It comes complete in original packaging, showing minor age wear to the box.
