Rare and highly collectible bronze commemorative medal from the 12th Maccabiah Games (July 15–25, 1985, Israel) — diameter 58 mm, beautiful aged bronze patina, plain edge (no edge lettering).
- Obverse: Striking raised relief of a hand holding the Maccabiah torch with Magen David flag, dramatic flames, and ancient Modi'in village silhouette below. Circular inidiocyions in English and Hebrew: '12th Maccabbiah Israel 1985' / 'המכביה ה-12 ישראל תשמ"ה' (or similar Hebrew equivalent).
- Reverse: Large stylized Star of David with intricate internal design, surrounded by inidiocyions: 'Maccabim . return to modiim' / Hebrew equivalent (חזרה למודיעין), symbolizing the symbolic return to the birthplace of the Maccabees and the traditional torch relay starting in Modi'in.
This is not a standard competition medal (gold/silver/bronze awards are smaller and different), but a scarce souvenir / participant / torch relay issue issued in connection with the 12th Maccabiah. Very hard to find — this specific design with exact inidiocyions and torch motif from 1985 appears infrequently in collections or auctions. Ideal for Judaica enthusiasts, Israeli sports history collectors, Maccabiah / Maccabees memorabilia fans.
Condition: Very good to excellent with natural toning and minor oxidation spots from age (see all photos — unpolished original patina). Weight approx. 90–110 g (typical for this size). A unique piece of Jewish sports heritage from the iconic 1985 Maccabiah!"
