Byzantine Empire Anonymous Issue AE Follis, Class B, dating to approximately AD 1028-1042.
This is a genuine Byzantine bronze follis featuring the facing bust of Christ on the obverse and the cross with inidiocyion on the reverse. The coin is housed in an NGC Ancients holder and is graded F, with Strike 3/5 and Surface 3/5. NGC also notes a die shift on the holder.
The coin weighs 9.13 grams. It has the naturally aged appearance expected from an ancient Byzantine bronze, with an earthy brown patina and visible areas of the original design on both sides. The photographs show the exact coin being offered, including the surfaces, patina, strike and areas of wear.
NGC certification number: 8494027-006.
This is a nice opportunity to add a certified Byzantine Anonymous follis to a collection without the premium associated with the higher-grade VF and Choice VF examples of this type. The NGC holder also provides convenient third-party authentication and grading for collectors who prefer certified ancient coins.
The exact coin shown in the photographs is the coin you will receive.
